This element represents community and represents a sense of belonging, kinship and is an integral component of the community based approach for the Coroners Court. This element reflects the support from the court community when they walk with people through the coronial process.
This element uses connected watering holes to represent the sharing of knowledge but also the up skilling of the Coroners Court to provide care to those they work alongside in a culturally safe and appropriate way. The Coroners Court is always listening, reflecting and growing not only internally but also their impact in the wider community.
This element shows a gathering place. This place is somewhere for mob to have meaningful connection, conversation and is culturally safe. It will also include different stakeholders with differing perspectives who must hear, understand, and respect each other's story. The essential part is about keeping the family at the very centre of these efforts with a mutual respect for all those involved in the coronial process. No matter what role you play in the coronial process it comes from a place of mutual respect, of the court and culture.
This element represents healing - this can be individual healing and collective healing journeys that require deep understanding about how their family member lived their life, and how their passing has impacted their family and those who knew them. This element highlights the importance of receiving culturally appropriate supports, acknowledging their loss, being heard, and showing compassion. The grieving process is an individual thing that must be respected and for some healing can be a lifelong journey.
The kangaroo tracks represent moving forward and the momentum of the Coroners Court, as well as the journey that the Coroners themselves go on to uncover the truth behind a persons passing.
This element represents learning. The three connected meeting places represent how the past and present are connected in order to impact and influence the future. This element highlights the importance of honouring those who have passed and the creation of an ongoing legacy through systemic change and improvement. By listening, reflecting, and growing, we can focus on the future and make sure similar deaths are prevented.
This element represents truth telling. This is a space where there are fearless, frank, open and honest exchange of the information in the coronial process for families. This space represents understanding the events of the past and to empower people to be fearless in their pursuit of understanding and obtaining the knowledge behind the loss of a loved one. This element reflects understanding of trauma that families and communities go through and the importance of providing tailored and culturally safe support for people to start their healing journey.
This element represents inner healing and the process that everyone engaged with the Coroners Court journeys through. The Coroners Court understands that healing journeys are individual and collective.
